About The Artist
Jim Wilson's fascination with animals has influenced many aspects of his life. A professional wildlife artist for over forty years, Jim spends many hours seeking out and researching the subjects for his detailed pen & ink and Prismacolor pencil drawings. He relies on reference material gathered from field work, museums, zoos, veterinary hospitals and wildlife rehabilitation facilities. His camera is a constant companion, providing an extensive collection of reference photos. While he finds field sketches useful for capturing a mood and preliminary impressions, intricate pieces are always completed in a studio setting.
Jim's education includes a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology, an M.S. in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, and Doctoral studies in Entomology. His interest in Ecology, coupled with his education in researching biological systems has contributed greatly to his development as a wildlife artist. Much of his success can be attributed to his use of exacting detail to portray the charm and character of his subjects.
Appreciative private and corporate collectors throughout the world continually enjoy the dynamic realism of Jim's art. We hope you do too.
